Monimos offers the platform for participation, but the content is created by its users.

2. What does the name “Monimos” mean?

The name “Monimos” comes from the words multiple (“moni” in Finnish) and mosaic (mos). It reflects the collaboration of various people and associations and the richness of interaction. Small contributions make the big picture like in a mosaic.

The name was chosen after open name competition in the Owela co-design platform for the immigrant media project. The winning suggestion Moniheli Mosaic was too long for a website and was thus shortened to Monimos, because a web address was available in that form.
